Dr. Violet Makuku: Championing Quality Assurance in Higher Education

Dr. Violet Makuku is a disguished Quality Assurance Specialist and Project Management Educationist with a rich academic and professional background. Born in Zimbabwe, Dr. Makuku holds a PhD in Quality Assurance in University Education  from the University of South Africa (UNISA), an MScEd in Curriculum Studies from Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE), and a BSc in Geography Honours from the same institution. She also holds a Diploma in Secondary Education from Gweru Teachers' College (GTC)

Dr. Violet Makuku has over a decade of experience as a lecturer in Curriculum Studies, Pedagogy, and Research Methods at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has also supervised numerous research projects, contributing significantly to the academic development of her students.

Currently, Dr. Violet Makuku serves as the Harmonization of African Higher Education Quality Assurance and Accreditation (HAQAA) Initiative Project Officer at the Association of African Universities (AAU) headquarters in Accra, Ghana. In this role, she has designed and implemented various training courses aimed at addressing quality assurance challenges in higher education across Africa.

Dr. Violet Makuku is a passionate advocate for quality education and has been recognized for her contributions to the field with several awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th Sustainable Development Research Conference. Her work focus on fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement in educational institutions, ensuring that they meet global standards while addressing the unique needs of the African continent

Through her leadership and dedication, Dr. Violet Makuku continues to inspire and drive transformative change in the quality assurance landscape, making a lasting impact on the higher education in African and beyond
